Lesson 01 - Introduction to CastlesIn Lesson One you will come up with your list for a castles purpose. You will then learn to describe an early Norman Castle and begin to explain some of the features of a Motte and Bailey castle.

Lesson 02 - Who lived in Castles?In Lesson Two you will be creating PlayDoh models of who lived, and worked in a Castle.
Some of you will give me basic models, the more adventurous will come up with symbols to represent the jobs and roles.

Lesson 03 - How can we attack and defend a castle?In Lesson Three you will learn how to attack and defend a castle. How did the methods change and which was more effective?

Hello Year 7,
This is a class project. We will present information about Castles two weeks after half term (07/03/14). This requires research over half term.
For the first lesson back (28/02/14) I need you to have researched the following about Norman Castles; ideally your research will involve visiting one of the many Norman Castles in Kent.
1. When and why Norman castles were built?
2. Whereabouts in England castles were built?
3. Who built castles?
4. What castles were originally used for?
5. An in depth study of a local Norman castles (Ideally with some pictures of you there!)
6. How did attacking Castles change?
7. How did Castles Defences change?
We will be presenting our information in Groups. You will have one lesson to work together to create a large poster, this will be presented and filmed. I would like you to build your own props with the assistance of your friends and families. We will have a Castle for which to demonstrate your ideas.
You will need to research some of the following;
